Band 6+: The average standard of people's health is likely to be lower in the future than it is now.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the recent years, there has been a debate about future generations’ health and whether it will be worsened by many modern factors prevalent nowadays. Some people believe that an increasing number of ecological issues will lead to a steady deterioration of people’s well-beings. However, it can be argued that medical and scientific breakthoughs should outweigh the possible worsening of the situation of public health.

On the one hand, a sudden rise in has been noted in the number of illness cases caused by ecological factors, such as in the amount of individuals with lung disease in the areas with heavily industrialised infrastructures. One more possible reason for such trend can also be the rising number of newly found diseases, one of which, for instance, caused a global pandemic 5 years ago. In our era of globalization, it is only a matter of time when will the new epidemy start spreading all over the world and result into massive health issues for society. Moreover, it is scientifically proven that viruses have been adapting to the most recent antibiotics, leading to the barriers in addressing this situation.

On the other hand, technology as a whole is developing at the rapid speed in the past few years. To state one example, artifical intelligence has helped biologists to find treatment for a number of diseases and it will only get more advanced in the future. Moreover, while proper medical help was mostly a privilege obtained by the citizens in the developed countries, there is a positive trend of undergraduates aiming for a degree in medicine getting in exchange programs and receiving valueable knowledge to save their fellow citizens’ lives.

To conclude, there will surely be some obstacles to be met by society in the future, which will lead to different health issues. However, to say that average person’s well being might worsen in the future is an underestimation of technological progress made exactly to improve our standard of life.
