It is often believed that investing in the young generation is undoubtedly one of the chief objectives of any government. While acknowledging the reasons behind this thinking, I believe certain investments in other areas are still necessary.
Granted, proponents of investing in young people often emphasize that it reflects a long-term vision for sustainable country development. To be more specific, the young generation is considered the shape of the country’s tomorrow, taking responsibility for maintaining socioeconomic matters. In other words, investing in educational systems is tantamount to providing a better chance for the country’s progress. For example, innately intelligent students who come from low-income families can afford educational expenses with the government’s financial assistance. This, in turn, not only creates opportunities for individuals but also for the whole society with incoming benefits.
For the aforementioned arguments, I am convinced that the government should pay attention to other areas such as technology, science, healthcare, and space exploration, which go a long way towards the development of the country. Without investment, these fields do not have the financial ability to pay for research expenses and to employees. This is coupled with the fact that this perspective fails to factor in the long-term vision, as evidenced by solely educational dependence, which leads to a disruption in the well-rounded development of the country. Another policy which should be high on the agenda for government funding is to deal with the ecological crisis which the world is facing. Resources must be allocated to policies to take action on global warming and to achieve sustainable development.
In conclusion, while some advocates think that investing solely in the young generation is the most definitive objective, I would contend that a balanced investment in each field is the most beneficial approach. Through this investment, it is warranted to ensure that the development of the country becomes more sustainable.
