There is growing debate about why people keep smoking while they are already know the risks of smoking. This essay will discuss about the reason why people smoking and how to decrease the number of smoker.

There are many factors why people decide to smoking, one of the reasons is environment. Someone who live in smoker friendship settings is tend to fell into smoking even if they know about the consequences. The anxiety to not to be accepted in a friendship if they are not smoking force them to smoking. Those situations are related to self-control and self-confident. Moreover, once they do smoking, very hard for them to leave it because of the nicotine dependency. This dependency is the reason why they keep smoking even already educated about the diseases will be appeared at a later time.

Many parties have to be involved in these smoking issues in society. Starting from family setting, school, university, society in general, even government. In Indonesia, the smoker rate is very high, even in school age. The failure of family role and school to protect this situation caused the high rate of smoker in Indonesia. Parents at home have to control what their child doing everyday, at least at home. Whereas, teacher at school helps them with education and make sure that they understand the risks about smoking. As well as society when seeing someone underage smoking in anywhere, scold them hardly and make sure to take their cigarettes because they still underage.

In conclusion, the lack of self-control may contribute to this situation, while the lack of control from parents at home and society at public may cause the high number of smokers in many coutries.
