The tourism industry has led to English being the most popular language in the entire world. Some individuals believe that this will be the main reason for English becoming the worldwide speaking language. This essay will look at the benefits of this situation such as easy communication and drawbacks like the impact on the uniqueness of nations in this situation.
On the positive side, if the entire world speaks only in English it would be more comfortable and easy to connect with others without any language barrier. For example, in Europe or in the United States of America the whole nation speaks in the English language, and it simplifies their life level and reduces problems with misunderstanding whether in the case of travel, education or daily communication.
In contrast, it can badly impact individualism and the history of other countries. By forgetting their own language, a nation can lose their personality as a country. For example, in Kazakhstan because of the impact of the Soviet Union nowadays more than half the nation speaks in Russian, and it affects the development of patriotism in many aspects. If the numbers of native speakers decreases, there will be parts of the individual culture slowly disappearing from society.
In conclusion, using only one language around the world is beneficial to remove the language barrier, but it also negatively affects the existence of local cultures. I contend that English should only be a global communication tool, not the only language that can be spoken in the world.
