The convenience of traveling internationally and the popularity of different mass media worldwide have helped people to know about other countries and their residents. Because of this, people are becoming more aware of what is going on across the globe, basic human rights, and moreover, new and unique lifestyles. But this trend is resulting in the depletion of different values and cultures as people are modernizing their lifestyles and also can be a reason for stress and peer pressure. So, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
To commence with, people nowadays get most of the information from social media whether it is about the entertainment industry, any natural disaster, or any political issue. This also helps people realize their own rights and needs from which they are often unknown because of living in their small community from birth or some political regulations. When people travel to various countries and explore new traditions and cultures and also get details of unique lifestyles, which they also start following if they want to. For example, if someone is visiting India for a holiday and starts liking a specific community, he can start following and researching about the same.
But, on the other hand, with the increase in the use of mass media, it can be shown that people are getting deprived from their own cultures and traditions in the race of opting western things. People are not continuing the rules or rituals like they used to in the past. Everything is getting transformed in a modern way. Moreover, this change is also impacting a person’s personal and mental life resulting in mental stress and demotivation. For example, when a person scrolls social media, he watches other people living luxurious lifestyles which he also wants to opt for but cannot because of his financial condition. This can convince him to commit some crimes and can also increase his anger issues.
Therefore, the disadvantages of this trend outweigh the advantages as it can negatively affect people’s lives and lead to some serious mental issues. Although, it is a progressive thing to learn and opt for new cultures but can also be a threat to various small communities that are already on the end line of depletion.
