It is believed that the government should provide free public transport 24/7 to reduce traffic congestion. Personally, I disagree with this view and I will state my reasons below.
Firstly, offering free public transport all day and night could encourage more people to use buses and trains instead of driving their own cars. This would lead to fewer vehicles on the roads and therefore less traffic congestion. Also, people who work late at night or early in the morning would benefit from having public transport available at all times. This could make travel easier and more convenient for everyone.
However, there are several problems with this idea. Running public transport services for free 24/7 would be very expensive. The government would need a lot of money to maintain this system, and this could lead to higher taxes or reduced spending in other important areas like healthcare and education. Additionally, making public transport free could result in overcrowding, making the service less comfortable and less reliable. Furthermore, it may not solve the problem entirely, as some people would still prefer to use their cars for convenience.
In conclusion, while free public transport available all the time might help reduce traffic congestion to some extent, it is not a perfect solution. The high costs and potential issues with overcrowding make it difficult to support fully.
