With the prevalence of traffic congestion, people contend that governments should be responsible for the provision of a public transport system 24/7 to alleviate congested roads. I largely support this view because of the potential benefits it offers, ranging from access to public transport services on a 24-hour basis to reduced carbon emissions.
One such significant advantage is the availability of transit throughout the entire day. When people have access to buses, subways, and trolleybuses, mobility and quality of life elevate. This results in greater freedom of movement and allows people to commute more conveniently, even during late hours. On top of that, if governments channel funds into such amenities, congestion would be drastically reduced, enhancing the overall efficiency of urban transport systems. In the long run, the transport system may be more efficient. Without these opportunities for access to public transit, individuals might not be able to afford taxis, which are in fact quite prohibitively expensive, thus resulting in the less privileged, who are without private cars, remaining isolated from evening events.
Another important reason is the environmental benefits it offers. When public transport is readily available, citizens are more likely to stop relying solely on private cars. This can encourage people to opt for public transport and even rely on it entirely. As a result, individuals would no longer be exacerbating environmental problems by diminishing carbon emissions. If there were no such conditions, environmental issues would increase, making it worse in the long term.
In conclusion, I concur with the notion that authorities should provide 24-hour public transport services for two major reasons: one is that this idea leads to readily available public transit, while the other is environmental gains. The government should provide free public transport 24/7 to reduce traffic congestion. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
