Band 4+: The graph gives information about the percentage of the population if four different Asian countries living in cities between 1970 and 2020 with additional predictions for 2030 and 2040.

The line graph illustrates the amount of people, who lived in cities in four different countries between 1972 and 2020, in addition, it depicts prediction for 2030, and 2040.

It is immediately obvious that, the percentage of citizens in four countries (Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia), has increased rapidly and also, it is going to raise in future.

As can be seen, the accounts for individuals who lived in cities of Philippines and Malaysia were almost the same In 1970, they were about 30% of population. While, the percentage of Malaysians had a considerable rise of 10% between 1970 and 1980, the percentage of citizens from Philippines stayed roughly stable at that time period. Around 50% of people of Philippines used to live in towns in 1990 and it went down rapidly by 10% from 1990 to 2010. In contrast, it will be anticipated to grow up between 2030 and 2040. Malaysian residents have always been keen on living in cities and their percentages will increase fast, it will be nearly 90% in 2040.

According to the figures, both Indonesia and Thailand saw an upward trend from 1997 to 2020. Thailand has experienced a slight rise of almost 10%, however, It is expected to have an quick raise for 10 consecutive years, from 2030 to 2040. Just 10% of Indonesians lived on the outskirts in 1997, while, most of them we live in cities in 2040.
