Band 6+: The main purpose of public libraries is to provide books and they shouldn’t waste their limited resources and space on providing expensive hi-tech media such as computer software, videos and DVDs. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Libraries are considered the best place not only to provide books to everyone but also to people who can come here and study there. These libraries are the centers of never-ending knowledge known as books. Nowadays, libraries also provide various high-tech media facilities, such as compute software, videos, and DVDs. Some people argue that these facilities should not be provided in libraries. However, I disagree with this statement to a larger extent as according to me, these high-tech media facilities help people to upgrade their skills.

To begin with, in this era, it is quite an essential way to upgrade libraries for many reasons. To commence with, a big chunk of youngsters prefer to study with the help of various gadgets, and they also keep themselves up to date with innovations. People nowadays prefer various methods to learn, such as watching videos or listening to audio, rather than just reading books. When I was in Btech, I learned more about my content from YouTube rather than the reference books. Libraries also have a limited space to store copies of single books. So e-books occupy less amount of space to store, and some books are very rare to find or not available for print in these situations. e-book helps a lot.

In addition, a person goes to a library not only to search a book or get information from books but also to study there. Many underprivileged children do not have the abundance of facilities to purchase new software, computers, or DVDs. Thus, they also have an opportunity to upgrade themselves with new achievements. Therefore, they can access all this in the libraries and enhance their skills. Technology also enhances learning and research opportunities. Moreover, a public library with high-tech facilities can save money as well as space. In a DVD and USB drive, we can store a large amount of data; otherwise, it occupy a large storage. Libraries also do not require many staff to manage the library if we use innovative technology instead of books.

Alternatively, there are some people who take advantage of this technology and use it negatively, such as chatting, playing games, and browsing objectionable sites. To much use of technology also overwhelmed students, and they also have a bad impact on their physical health as well as mental health
