In today’s fast-paced world, although the production and use of cars have numerous negative impacts on the environment, their prevalence still experiences an increase. This trend can be attributed to several factors, and from my perspective, a range of solutions is needed in order to address this issue.
It is undeniable that the use of cars can bring significant benefits to individuals. With modern technology and machines integrated into private cars, they can provide us with a more comfortable space compared to other vehicles. Car roofs, for instance, enable individuals to travel whether the weather is rainy or sunny, while the air conditioners facilitate long travels as they can generate a stable temperature inside the cars, depending on people’s demands. Additionally, using personal cars is much more convenient than other public transport. Instead of waiting at the bus stop or following a fixed and restrictive schedule, people can easily choose when they can travel with their own cars. As a result, the rise in the use of cars nowadays is unavoidable.
However, I would contend that there are several measures to mitigate this problem. The government plays a crucial role due to its high budgets and power to influence citizens. It can invest in upgrading the public transportation system, prioritizing individuals’ demands such as creating flexible schedules and routes or developing well-equipped buses and trains to improve the current situation. Another approach can be focused on citizens’ vehicles. The government can organize campaigns, raising people’s awareness about environmental problems created by fossil fuel cars such as air pollution to encourage the use of electric vehicles. By offering discounts for changing from petrol cars to electric vehicles and introducing free charging in many places, individuals may have a tendency to use more electric vehicles. These strategies, therefore, can significantly reduce the reliance on diesel cars, along with car emissions and traffic congestion.
In conclusion, while the growth of cars’ popularity can be due to their convenience and comfort, the government can alleviate this trend by upgrading the public transportation system and encouraging the use of electric vehicles with its huge financial resources and authority.
