Band 5+: The pie chart shows the reasons why people are homeless in the UK.

The given pie chart illustrates the primary culprits of homelessness among UK citizens. In general, people tend to become homeless largely because of the loss of accommodation with their close ones.

Looking at details, the biggest proportion of 34% accounts for the loss of living space which was shared with relatives or friends. Next came personal life issues, namely separation of couples caused by breakdowns, which is the reason for 24 percent of homeless people in the UK.

Regarding the loss of tenancy, this stemmed 13% of all homelessness in the UK. The number of homeless people caused by mortgage or rent arrears is nowhere near as big as the loss of living space and made up a mere 9 per cent. Furthermore, the remaining reasons made up 19 percent collectively.

In summary, homelessness reasons in the UK are mostly comprised of accommodation loss and relationship problems of individuals.
