Recently, the population of most cities is climbing as more citizens have been employed and find new job opportunities. This overpopulation will cause lots of social issues in the future. So what should we do to solve this situation?
The crucial problem of overcrowded cities is the issue of sustainability which includes lack of basic needs such as housing and clean water. This is because most of the cities are specifically designed to cater a designated number of people and will not be ready to be converted to mega cities. So that the resources in the cities will be pretty scarce, which means lots of people may not have a chance to drink clean water and even cannot have enough food. That is what government should cope with, instead of a seriously social bad issue like have a fight with each other to contest the scarce food and drink.
To solve it, government has the biggest right to control the trend of economic growing or fall, so that we can through government’s hand to adjust the citizens population, for example, induce a law to fine those people who had more than one kids in their family, or just restrict the illiteracy people to work in the high-knowledge needed companies. The Government has made it mandatory for companies to move their manufacturing operations out of city centers. This will open the door to opportunities in rural areas, as more jobs will be available, while at the same time discouraging the need to migrate to the cities.
In conclusion, although there are some problems with urban overpopulation, they are not insurmountable. To address the problem, the Government should take long-term measures, such as relocating companies’ factories outside the cities and family planning.
