If we are going to talk about The Production levels of the main fuels in the UK between 1981 and 2000 we will see the difference between Petroleum, Coal and Natural gas.
Petroleum was always on the top of the others. As you may see on the graphic, the production of it goes almost to 140 million tonnes of oil during the whole time in between those years. Although 1991 made a huge dropdown, from 140 to 100 million tonnes.
If we have a look at Coal it started at the same level as Petroleum in 1981 but really dropped around 1983 because of some government changes at that time. It did a small spike in 1986 for the same reason, but soon after it got to it’s normal drop down. and nowadays not mush people use coal at all.
Although Natural gas gets better and better over the years. It has beet pretty stable burning time between 1981 and 1991, but after people’s realization that it’s match more better and easier to use it got spike up to 50% in past 10 years.
In conclusion, we can say that Petroleun still the lead in the market, but it definitely need to be aware of Natural gas.
