It is often believed that preventing and reducing global environmental damage are mainly the responsiblity for the authorities and individuals can contribute a little to tackle the problem. However, this essay is strongly disagree with this suggestion for several reasons.
Firstly, minimizing the amount of rubbish is the goverment’s responsibility as well as global citizens. In fact, the quantity of trash disposed by households accounts for over 70 per cent, which is significantly higher than the industry. As a result, the environment is damaged badly through daily lives of the citizens in both urban and rural areas. In Vietnam, specially in metropolitan areas, polluted rivers or soil erosion can be easily found due to people’s activities and low awareness.
Therefore, it is vital for general public to protect the environment regardless of their little or much contribution. Various measures can be taken such as taking part in clean-up activites, raising public awareness and afforestation. Furthermore, the ministries should also implement environmental policies and impose a restriction, thereby hindering the damages to the ecosystem. Followed by that, firms and companies should be examined by environmental agencies and they have a duty to have the waste treatment before releasing into nature.
In conclusion, this essay strongly opposes the idea that individuals can do a little compared to the politicians as responsibility for relieving global enviromental damage. The arguments discussed highlight the individuals’ obligation to protect ecosystem towards the government’s responsibility that is often misunderstood as the best solution to solve enviromental problems.
