The shopping habits of individuals often rely on many factors. Some argues that the age plays a major role when it comes to shopping. I totally disagree with this statement as I believe that the other factors such as income, culture and personal preference are the main factors that regulates the shopping habits of people.
Firstly, despite of age the most prominent factor that determines the shopping habits of people is income. Individuals with high income tend to spend more money on luxuries items and they have the financial flexibility to do so. While the people with lower income would rather prioritize the essential goods. For instance, in a workplace there are people with high income as well as people with low income so a young professional earning a high salary would frequently buy designer items, branded cloths whereas an individual on medium income may be focused on their spendings and would prefer budget friendly items. Regardless both being same age there is a huge difference in their purchasing habits.
Secondly, the culture. We all know how different each culture is. In some cultures, there are things that are prohibited while the same things might be allowed in some other culture. For this reason, some individuals will not purchase the things that other people buy. For an example, the vegetarians will not buy or consume non vegetarian foods even if their same age people eat or buy vegetarians will not include these things in their daily life. Moreover, if we see the clothing pattern there is a vast different between people even among same age group. For an example, in a class room there will be various cultured people some may prefer wearing short dresses in contrast some others will prefer wearing long dresses and will cover their whole body. Definitely regardless of their age there will be a clear variation in their shopping habits.
In conclusion, in spite of age the key factors that will shape individuals purchasing pattern are the income and culture.
