Overall, the main source for the police budget was the National Government among other sources and the budget experienced an increasing budget from all the sources. Although the expense for salaries decreased, it still had a lion’s share compared to other expenditures.
The total police budget in 2017 was 304.7m and grew to 318.6 in 2018. As the biggest funder, National Government allocated 175.5 m in 2017 and added around 2m in the next year, while local taxes also gave almost 100 m in 2017 and over 100m in 2018. In addition, other sources like grantalso contribute likely 38 m.
There was a change in terms of budgeting for salaries and technology. The former experienced a decrease from 75% to 69%, while the latter experienced a growth from almost 10% to 14%. On the other hand, the police only spent 17% on buildings and transport.
