Overall, the Humanities department occupied the highest percentage of female students, while the Information Technology department had the largest proportion of students whose first language was not English. In addition, this department with Physics had the greatest number of individuals who were born outside Australia.
In terms of students participating in six distinct departments, Humanities accounted for the highest number of female participants, at 72%, followed closely by that of Education, at 68%. Besides, there were more than half of female students attending in the Science and Physics department, at 52% and 56%, respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of students in the Information Technology and Engineering department were relatively small, around 16%.
There were correlations between the percentage of students whose first language was not English and the likelihood of being born outside of Australia. For instance, the Information Technology department had 49% of students whose first language was not English and 56% of them were born outside Australia. Similar high rates were seen in Science (45% and 31%), Physics (38% and 56%), Engineering (42% and 48%). Conversely, these proportions were much lower in Humanities (12% and 20%) and Education (16% and 23%)
