Overall, the usage charges in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth are higher at the level of over 125 kilolitres of water use,while Melbourne and Sydney maintain consistent water pricing. Additionally, whereas the highest average bill per household is recorded in Perth, Melbourne’s families have the lowest average bills.
Although Adelaide and Perth see the lowest usage charge of $0.42 per kilolitre for initial 125KL, the figure increases to $1.00 for the former and to $1.50 for the latter when the water usage level is over 125KL. With a significant jump by $1.08, the average bill in Perth is the highest, reaching $332 per family, $20 higher than that in Adelaide. Regarding usage charge in Brisbane, there is a moderate rise of $0.03 per kilolitre of water between two mentioned levels and the average bill per household is slightly lower, reaching $310.
For the two other cities, Melbourne and Sydney usage charges up to 125KL and over 125KL remain the same, standing at $0.78 and $0.98, respectively. With the highest initial water price, the average bill per Sydney’s household is the second highest, just behind Perth’s figure, whereas Melbourne’s is by far the lowest, costing $253 each bill.
