Band 5+: The use of mobile phones is as antisocial as smoking. Smoking is banned in certain places so mobile phones should be banned like smoking. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is an ongoing debate regarding the restriction of using a cellphone similar as smoking which is contrary to the laws and customs of society. Even though excessively using a mobile phone will affect adversely on both health and study, a comparison between cellphone and smoking is inappropriate. In this essay, I will delve deeper into the debate and provide relevant examples to support my argument.

On the one hand, restriction of utilizing phones in certain places, including school area can result in better academic performances among students. As youngsters are easily distracted by playing video games or exploring social media platforms, it can be addicting and affect their academic journey. Moreover, using a mobile phones in streets can be dangerous as someone might get hurt by car accidents.

On the other hand, the strict prohibition on phones like ban of smoking will create a chaos among society. In modern world with full of technological advancement, utilizing a mobile phone is part of individual’s daily routine to unwind their stress, communicate with their loved ones, and get a relevant information from the internet. A recent study revealed that restriction of using a phone will increase stress level as it feels like isolating from the world. Therefore, a mobile phone has significant benefits, if people use it in a correct way.

In conclusion, it is possible that the excessive use of handphone will yields an addiction and increase a chance to get into an accident. However, putting a restriction of usage will harm individuals since it enables them to engage in a various activities. Therefore, using a mobile phone in a correct way is the best method to prevent adverse effects.
