This topic argues about a balance between work and rest. I agree that the working week should be shorter than current policy about labour, to assure workers’ rights to relax. There are two reasons that can keep up with my opinion: better efficiency at work and an increase of consumption.
First of all, enlargement in weekend can increase efficiency at work. As former experiment of extending weekends to 3 days indicates, workers who had 3 days of weekends showed better performance at work, which states the possibility that 2 days of rest isn’t a proper amount of relaxation. Ensuring right amount of relaxation not only keeps workers from burnout but it can also lead to enhance of workforce motivation, ultimately increasing productivity.
Next, extension of weekends can enhance economy. That people get longer free time means that they are provided with much more opportunities and options for selecting what to do in their weekends. Compared to having 2 days of weekends, workers can now go on one night, two-day trips, with one day left to relax, which ensures proper relaxations of their own as well as spending time with families or friends. Not only replenishing stamina throughout weekends doing nothing but lying in bed, people can go outside, having nice meals, going on a fancy trip, or maybe buy things for hobby.
To conclude, I advocate that the working weekends should be shortened while the weekends be extended. For the long term view, this decision would lead to the enhance of the company by enhancing productivity of the members, as well as enhancing economy by boosting the will to spend money and time for extended free time.
