The right amount of working hours has always been a concern for people. While some might believe it should be increased, others argue that everyone should work less. I completely agree with the latter point of view.

There are definite rewards from working more. Many companies report that their new workers are lazy and do not want to work. Because of that, the working environment may be disrupted, and the company might face financial issues as a result. However, by working more, people can possibly get closer to their coworkers and get to know each other better. By frequently collaborating, they work more and benefit their company. Therefore, the country’s whole economy can rise as a result. Additionally, in countries like mine, we have a high number of holidays, and our economy is unstable; prolonged working hours can compensate for this. Thus, it can benefit the economies of many countries and increase revenues for companies.

However, it could be said that our current system is inefficient and stressful, so we have to fix it. Nowadays, workers in many corporate jobs are under huge pressure because of the current competition and reports from managers. In this case, people are already unsatisfied with their jobs, and further stress is unneeded. In addition, even if the working hours are high enough, it does not mean that they are efficient. Current jobs already have a lot of paperwork and unnecessary activities. To solve this problem, decreasing working hours can be helpful. The principle of quality over quantity would be prioritized. If workers cover all their duties in time, it will be beneficial for their mental health. They could spend time with their loved ones and enjoy their lives. Thus, by working less, the lives of many people can feel more fulfilled and potentially increase work efficiency for some companies.

In conclusion, while it is true that working more can be beneficial for others, it does not prioritize people themselves. In my view, their preferences are more important, and even others can benefit from that, so working less is a better measure.
