Some people believe that workers spend too much working, and that they deserve more breaks in their week. However, I disagree with this opinion, because workers are paid by the amount of time they spent working, and they are free to choose whether or not to take a rest from their job, if applicable.
Firstly, employees earn money by how much they work, hence, lowering this time only decreases their salary. Consequently, majority of them prefer to not take a rest for higher payment. Also, many people just enjoy working in general. They are compelled to working and also easily visible in the society, often referred as workaholics. This type of person are enthused in being occupied with something, and is commonly seen in high-salary jobs.
Secondly, extended rests in a week is not necessary because workers can take a day or two off at their own will. The employer provides a controlled number of day-off one could use at their workplace depending on their rank. For instance, interns in companies are allowed 10 days off in a year and this system is called the vacation entitlement. This system seems to be flawless, and is better than dominantly changing one’s week plan.
In conclusion, while there are voices about weekdays being too long in the working industry, I think there is no necessary change required. Many will choose to work instead of staying at home, and they can choose to work or not for a couple of days in a year already.
