It is believed that the number of work days should be decreased in order to provide a longer weekend for the working people. I agree with this opinion, because extended weekends improve overall health and efficiency of the employees.
To start with, shorter business days would give more time for workers to recover and improve their well-being. This is because on the workplace person have to deal with huge amount work and pressure, and this increases the stress and impacts to the health of the individual. For instance, the working conditions in Japan are tough, with the average work day spanning over 10 hours, six days a week. This extensive labor creates the enormous pressure on the employee and leads to the health deterioration.
Furthermore, a slight increase in working days can massively improve the productivity of the worker. There is the direct correlation with the productivity of the worker and the amount of time the individual rests. Well-rested employee is more efficient than the one, who takes extra hours of work. For example, in the company named Apple the developers can work at any time they want and can take as much of the rest days as they need. The statistics have showed that the average working hours were 6 hours a day, 4 days a week. Even with the decrease in work time, developers were more productive than those, who worked by 9-to-5 schedule.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that working week should be shorter to boost person’s health condition and productivity by providing them more time to rest and recover from the number of duties that they encounter at work.
