Band 6+: There seems to be an increasing number of serious crimes committed each year. While some think the best way is to use the death penalty as a deterrent, many people believe that other measure will be needed. Discuss both sides.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Severe crimes appear to be committed more frequently annually. Many people believe that more steps will be required, despite some believing that the death penalty is the best deterrent. This essay will discuss both sides of judging criminals.

To begin with, proponents of the death penalty argue that its implementation serves as a powerful deterrent against serious crimes. The death penalty helps to protect society by permanently removing dangerous criminals from the population, preventing them from committing further crimes. For example, criminals and terrorists who threaten the lives of the population, naturally the death penalty will be good for the merits of their actions. In general, the death penalty can deter people who commit irreplaceable acts.

Conversely, opponents of the death penalty emphasize that other measures can be more effective in curbing crime. Instead of imposing the death penalty, opponents argue for life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. For instance, this ensures that dangerous criminals are permanently removed from society while still allowing for the potential for rehabilitation. Overall, there are other effective actions to reduce crime rates.

To sum up, I believe that criminals should be punished according to the law, depending on their crimes and the harm caused to people.
