Nowadays, a lot more children identify themselves as part of the LGBTQ+ community. There are two reasons, society is more open minded, and the impact of social media. Personally, I believe that both of these reasons have an impact on children’s choices.
It is clear that we live in a time of innovation and every day scientists and society make different discoveries. As a result, people are more able to accept something new but as everyone knows, different orientations have always existed and nowadays it is just more popular/widespread than before. For example, there are a lot of lectures and lessons in schools about children’s orientation and identification. Also a lot of charities started to support people from the LGBTQ+ community financially. It means that children understand that it is normal to be different from others and they will be supported if they will change their orientation.
At the outset, it is essential to acknowledge that of course social media shares this topic in different stratas of society. Social media has a large/significant impact, especially on children. For instance, every child hears about popular toys, trends and songs from messengers and media outlets/ the media. This is where children could hear about the LGBT+ community and it results in questioning their orientation.
In conclusion, social media and a more open minded society have an influence on children’s choices and opinion. Therefore, parents must control what their children read or watch on the Internet and explain to them that they must make a choice for/- themselves.
