Nowadays, many school pupils find it difficult to give their full attention and concentration during learning sessions. This struggle often stems from various social challenges, including social-psychological issues and physical problems. To improve children’s performance, schools should introduce counselors and seek donations to support underprivileged students.
In schools, several factors can contribute to a child’s lack of attention and concern for their education. For instance, social issues such as abuse can prevent learners from focusing on their lessons as they may be preoccupied with finding a way out of their situation. Victims of abuse often experience anxiety and depression, which makes it hard for them to engage with anything around them. Additionally, social class disparities can disrupt a child’s learning focus. Typically, children from well-off families have access to resources that those from lower socio-economic backgrounds do not. Consequently, poorer students may find it difficult to concentrate on their education and might instead dwell on their desire for a better life. Feelings of anger and bitterness toward their parents can further detract from their learning experience. Furthermore, the internet and gaming can negatively impact students’ focus on their education.
To address these challenges, it is essential for every school to implement counseling services that provide psycho-social support for vulnerable children. School counselors can assist students in navigating daily circumstances that hinder their academic performance while creating a safe and supportive environment. Additionally, teachers should receive training to effectively supervise all students and communicate well with both children and their parents. The use of phones during learning sessions should also be prohibited.
Children face numerous obstacles that can impede their focus on school activities. However, by introducing school counselors and banning phone usage, we can work towards mitigating these issues.
