In today’s generation, individuals spend a lot of time at work rather than at home. Firstly, this essay will discuss financial stability as the biggest advantage and the lack of family bonds as a primary disadvantage.
On the one hand, utilizing time at work creates success in earning money and maintaining high prestige in society. In addition, workplaces provide people with opportunities to work overtime and earn extra income. There is also a high chance of getting promoted due to dedication and hard work, which may lead to receiving complementary benefits from the company, such as an apartment, transport facilities, and more. For example, in developed countries, most senior-level management employees receive living expenses from their companies, and lower-level staff are paid for their overtime as per business hours.
Despite these merits, there are still some drawbacks. One major disadvantage is the lack of bonding between family members. Due to overtime work and not getting enough vacation or holidays, individuals struggle to spend quality time with their loved ones, which can negatively affect their relationships. Additionally, during special occasions and celebrations at home, many employees cannot attend due to their heavy workload at the office. For instance, a recent study by Times Blast shows that a significant number of people from Nepal have moved to other countries for work purposes. As a result, they are unable to celebrate festivals with their families.
To sum up, workaholics experience both advantages and disadvantages. Maintaining financial stability and status in society is a great benefit, but there is also a lack of quality time with family, which affects personal relationships.
