These days, schools are not promoting physical activities as much as in the past to ensure that students have a perfect academic education.
In the past, schools did promote sporting activities and education because there was low demand for jobs. As technologies were not developing fast, there were plenty of jobs available. Before artificial intelligence was introduced, there was a need for people to do jobs. A job as an accountant, for example, requires expertise in mathematics because that job is based on calculating transactions. In contrast to today, the job is at risk of disappearing because of AI (artificial intelligence). AI can do calculations itself, as it was also made to resolve mathematical problems and provide results to people.
For a variety of reasons, schools are now encouraging education a lot more than some sporting pastimes, as they want children to have academic excellence. The more people are educated, the more chance there will be of hiring them. This is because most employers from big companies offer jobs to those who are well-educated. As these companies are big and popular, they give high salaries to their employees. India can be a good case in point. People in some parts of that country are suffering from poverty. Thus, in schools, Indian pupils are taught for many hours to ensure they have good work in the future.
In conclusion, I think it is good that schools are now concerned about students’ future careers because of high demand on jobs, and they are being taught a lot more than doing physical pastimes as lessons.
