More and more people are choosing to migrate from the countryside to metropolitan cities. This trend leads to overpopulation in big areas; however, it can be addressed by governments providing more job opportunities and social welfare to rural residents.
One of the main problems caused by this issue is overpopulation, putting excessive strain on urban infrastructure. Explicitly, as more people move to the cities, the demand for housing or transportation would increase as well, which directly leads to overcrowded living conditions or traffic congestion. As a result, they have no choice but to live in cramped apartments while spending hours commuting on the road due to inefficient traffic systems. For example, in big cities like Hanoi, there are multitude of rundown tenement houses as well as roads littering with vehicles, which simultaneously affect people’s mental and physical health because of stress and poor air quality.
To address this issue, the government should focus on promoting development in rural areas. One effective measure must be creating more employment opportunities by promoting local industries and encouraging more businesses to establish operations outside major cities. This approach would help diminish the economic burden that forces people to migrate. Additionally, authorities should also provide social welfare services such as quality healthcare, education, and transportation. Such support would make rural areas a more attractive place to live; therefore, people may be less inclined to leave their hometowns, easing population pressure in developed regions.
In conclusion, an enormous influx of people can result in a population explosion, which has a direct impact on people’s quality of life. In response to the issue, governments should take their responsibilities by reinforcing the development of the countryside in terms of citizens’ employment and living standard.
