Today, the quality of life in large cities is decreasing. Discuss the causes and solutions. It is undeniable that nowadays, there are a large number of people moving to urban areas. However, this trend also has several detrimental effects on their living standards. In this essay, I will be discussing some reasons leading to this phenomenon as well as what resolutions should be taken.
To begin with, there are two main culprits that are worsening city dwellers’ lives in this day and age. The first explicit one is the mushrooming migration of people from rural areas to municipal ones. This could somehow help people from the countryside to have decent jobs with satisfied salaries; however, the overwhelming relocation to large cities could put a burden on the healthcare system as well as the infrastructure. The appearance of many plants and industrial zones is also worth mentioning. Building a lot of factories might increase CO2 emissions, which could do harm to our planet’s ozone layer, causing skin-related issues such as sunburn or, at worst, skin cancer.
To tackle those aforementioned causes, the government plays an integral part in the process. First and foremost, relocating programs should be taken into consideration, which means the authorities should offer more incentives to encourage people to stay and live in the countryside. By doing this, the burdens on the healthcare system could be alleviated. Secondly, some stringent regulations on constructing factories should be implemented. If an Apple plant, for example, is going to be built, it must follow rules like ensuring the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere goes below one ton per year.
To conclude, the migration from remote places to metropolitan ones and the tremendous number of new factories are two reasons giving rise to the degradation of city inhabitants’ lives. I believe the government is an essential factor in solving these problems.
