There is no denying that in many countries, traditional festivals and customs are disappearing. While it is widely believed that preserving them is important, there is also an argument that modernization is inevitable and traditions should be allowed to fade. This essay will analyze this topic from both perspectives and express my opinion.
On one hand, traditional festivals and customs originate from a country’s history, informing the world about the nation’s past, its lifestyle, and how people lived. In other words, they reveal much about a country’s evolution from its beginnings to the present day. For example, every country has unique traditional festivals and customs, such as traditional dishes, dances, and dresses.
On the other hand, lifestyles worldwide have become more modern compared to the past, and people are beginning to abandon their old ways in favor of modern life. It is also possible to argue that they are trying to determine what is more important than their past history. For instance, people choose their clothes and food based on what they find on the internet, such as popular clothing brands, and for food, they often go to fast-food restaurants because it is convenient for them.
In conclusion, there are no easy answers to this question. On balance, however, I tend to believe that traditional festivals and customs are the most important aspects of countries in general because they tell the story of a nation’s history and everything that makes each country unique.
