It is true that the young generation are having a more fulfilling life with prosperity, higher life expectancy, but are also suffering from sadness. In this essay, I will propose some underlying reasons behind this phenomenon before suggesting several methods to deal with it.
On the one hand, this tendency can be attributed to two main rationales. First, it is undoubtedly that young individuals are well-adapted in fast-paced modern life, bringing them tangible achievement, such as social status and financial resources. However, it also means that they are living in a highly competitive environment, where people have to be superior to others to be chosen for promotions. As a result, competitiveness and a stressful lifestyle leads to severe mental depression and fatigue, making young residents find their lives miserable. In addition, stress may be a result of unrealistic expectations coming from themselves, family or society. For example, in Vietnam, many parents tend to put a lot of pressure on their children, wanting them to achieve financial or academic success. This makes some young people think of suicide when they are struggling to live up to their parent’s expectations.
However, some approaches can be applied to solve this problem. For a start, it is necessary for the young to take a break, meaning that they can stop working to rest for a period of time, especially when they feel tired and pressured. Samsung Corporation, in Korea, provides their employees with annual trips, helping them relieve stress and improve their work productivity. Besides, companies should promote collaboration and teamwork, which is conducive to a more positive and comfortable working environment, thereby strengthening relationships and cultivating mutual respect among colleagues. Admittedly, competition is important in doubt, but young workers still need team-based activities, which offer opportunities to learn from each other and comprehend strengths and weaknesses.
In conclusion, there is an increasing number of young people living unhappily despite gaining more tangible achievement than their predecessors. This issue is solvable by adopting my recommended methods, including group-based tasks and having a break. It is true that the young generation are having a more fulfilling life with prosperity, higher life expectancy, but are also suffering from sadness.
