In the contemporary world, men’s sport shows dominate a majority of TV channels as well as be prioritized over shows for women sports. From my perspective, TV channels should strike the balance between women’s sports and men’s sports in favor of time.
Primarily, there are multiple factors substantially leading to this case. First and foremost, one primary cause is the belief which derive from the past society. From the past, sports symbolizes strength and power at which men completely predominated over women. As a result, men’s sport shows are more appealing than women’s by virtue of the highly competitive matches, creating various senses of suspense and excitement for viewers such as basketball, football,… Moreover, sports history for men existed longer than women’s, thus it tend to develop day by day and become prevalent around the globe. In contrast, the advancement of women’s sport is occurred later than sport for men so it need to gradually improve more over the course of time in order to make a breakthrough as same as men’s does. Thus, TV channels tend to choose shows of men athletes that can enable them in increasing viewer from those.
However, TV channels should give equal time in order to strike the balance between sports shows for men and women. By offering chances to women’s sport, women athletes can have more opportunities to prove their talents. Hence, it can enhance a sense of accomplishment, provide more attempts to contribute to their aspirations and dreams and even their country. Furthermore, giving equal time for women’s sports can be a motivation that helps to incentivize female gender. For example, a girl who is into sports while seeing a show of a woman athlete’s success in her career, there is an invisible effort that fosters her dream to be successful in the sports field for a not too distant future.
In conclusion, I hold a strong belief that it is crucial for TV broadcasters in providing more sport shows for women and breaking the disparity of time between women’s sports and men’s sports.
