Mass media should cover more positive stories than negative ones. I partially agree with this point of view due to some reasons will be mentioned below.
First of all the role of media is to provide objective and reliable feeds to the public. Journalists should deliver only true and fact-based information. By selecting only good news for publication can cause harmful effects on people’s understanding of the situation.
More specifically, COVID 19 could be vivid example when the precision and careful messages about pandemic have impacted human lives.
The other crucial point against selection of good stories would be deceiving people about the current reality in order to distract them from actual problems and urgent issues. Because people have some rights to know real situation in order to realize and avoid coming up problems. However, there are some other facts which need to reveal to the public and some data which need to be hidden from people attention. That would be governmental issue to widespread or not.
In conclusion due to fact that media’s target is to feed public with only positives, I believe that it cannot warrant since media must provide chance for everyone to know what is really going and understand the situation properly in order to secure themselves
