Some argue that universities should accept equal numbers of men and women in every faculty. I partly agree with this view because I think both of them have the equal rights.
Firstly, access to education is a basic human right. Denying women access to higher education is not fair. In Japan, it is a serious social issue for universities to limit the number of women to enter them. For instance, although a woman got scores above criteria in all subjects, she was rejected to major in medicine because of her gender. It means that women’s basic human rights are eroded.
Secondly, the status of women is the same level as that of men in modern society. Women should have easy access to undergraduate classes. However, colleges in some countries are restricted to only men. As a result, they don’t provide women with opportunities to acquire deeper knowledge and transferable skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. This can make women less productive employees, having negative consequences for business. What is worse, it can harm the national economy ultimately.
In conclusion, some colleges restrict the number of women or don’t allow them to learn as them. However, if university implement the system that they accept the same number of men and women in every field, these problems may be solved. Therefore, I strongly agree with this view.
