There is no denying the fact that animals are used to test many items in the medical field. While it is a commonly held belief that animals have rights and scientists should not use them in testing cosmetics or medications, there is an argument that opposes it. In my opinion, I believe that they must be used in limited way to examine certain products related to health.
To begin with, the prohibition of the usage of animals in critical situations such as trials for testing new medications will have a negative impact on the worldwide population. Moreover, everyday new diseases are discovered, and new treatments should be tested to ensure the survival and cure of these illnesses. In case of prohibiting these kinds of exams, these new pharmaceutical products will be tried firstly on humans and any negative impacts and side effects might happen and affect the person’s life and his whole family.
On the other hand, it is also possible to say that countries will face multiple economical drawbacks. For instance, these adverse effects that might happen will need a special care, and the resolve of these contraindications will require a huge budget to cover the hospitalization, lab tests, x-rays, drugs and other supportive treatments costs.
In conclusion, it is not easy to give answers to this question. On balance, however, I consider that trying new medicinal products on animals is a crucial phase in these types of innovations, as it is impossible to skip this step and try them directly on humans.
