Band 9: Wealth and material belongings often measure the success that a person has. Do you think wealth is the best measure of success? What makes a successful person?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The amount of money and material possessions people have is often thought to define their success. However, I do not believe that wealth and tangible assets are a true reflection of success, as significant achievements are not always accompanied by financial rewards. What truly reflects the extent of a person’s success is their accomplishments within the field they specialize in.

Material wealth and financial resources do not fully measure success, because great achievements are not always rewarded monetarily. Success comes in many forms, and in many cases, money does not play a role at all. People may work tirelessly, achieve impressive results, and still receive little to no financial gain. For example, Albert Einstein was not paid for many of his groundbreaking discoveries in physics, yet he is still regarded as one of the most successful scientists in history.

True success lies in the results a person achieves in their chosen field. People have different talents and pursue different professions, each with unique goals. A person can be considered successful for any meaningful accomplishment, especially when it results from dedication and hard work. For instance, when firefighters rescue someone from danger, they are celebrated as heroes, even though they may not receive financial rewards for their bravery.

In conclusion, success should not be measured by how much wealth a person has, as outstanding achievements often come without financial compensation. I believe that success is best defined by the meaningful results people accomplish in their fields, through effort, passion, and purpose.
