It has been observed that unlike past, weddings, at present, are no more economical and becoming bigger as well. If explored, rise in individual earning has led to this trend. However, in my opinion, this is negative development. Both the aspects are analyzed further.
Body 1: To begin with, one of the reasons behind the expensive weddings is the substantial growth in person’s income. It has been seen that in last 3 decades economy of many nations has experienced remarkable boost which has also hike the percentage of salary as well. Consequently, the things that are unaffordable in the past such as, decoration, pre-wedding photoshoot, music and parties and make-up have become accessible for the majority of the people. Also, this is the once in a life time moment and as a result affluent people make marriages memorable by comprising luxuries and exquisite stuffs which make weddings more costly.
To commence, one of the driving forces behind the escalating costs of weddings is the significant increase in individual income. Over the last three decades, the economies of numerous countries have experienced a remarkable upturn, resulting in a surge in average salaries. Consequently, items that were once unaffordable, such as decorations, pre-wedding photoshoots, music and entertainment, and bridal make-up, have become within reach for the majority of the populace. Moreover, since a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, affluent individuals endeavor to make them memorable by incorporating luxury and exquisite elements, thereby further inflating the cost of weddings.
Body 2: However, in my opinion, this is overall detrimental because it can make people debtor. To explain this, to maintain status in society and to present themselves as superior over other families, people often take loans from banks or borrowing money from their kith and kins. But this behavior makes them debtor for a long period of time and often lead to financial crisis as well. Besides, in opulent events, organizer often includes unnecessary elements which also cause waste of valuable resources and money.
However, I contend that this trend is inherently detrimental due to its potential to plunge individuals into debt. To elucidate, in their pursuit to uphold a certain social status and project superiority over other families, individuals often resort to borrowing money from financial institutions or acquaintances. This propensity for borrowing can saddle them with long-term debt and precipitate financial instability. Moreover, extravagant weddings frequently entail the inclusion of superfluous elements, leading to the wastage of valuable resources and funds.
In conclusion, the escalating scale and cost of modern weddings can be chiefly attributed to the rise in individual incomes. Nevertheless, I maintain that this trend constitutes a negative development due to its propensity to entrench individuals in debt and engender wasteful expenditure.
