Marital unions are quite costly in several nations in the present day compared to the olden days. There are several reasons behind this trend, which will be discussed in this essay, as well as the negative impact of it.

To begin, societal pressure has pushed a lot of people to spend beyond their income. As much as a wedding ceremony is a beautiful occasion done once in a lifetime, it shouldn’t cause a fortune to be done. Some people trying to impress their folks incur debts, which can frustrate the couple later in their marriage. Try-to-belong syndrome has affected so many couples, especially from the views of nuptial pictures that are posted on social networking sites such as Instagram, where elaborate and extravagant weddings are posted.

Moreso, the high cost of marriage causes a lot of stress on the couple. This is because of their search for the best, for instance, whereby the couple seeks out the best caterer,makeup artist, etc., which makes them not plan for marriage.

In conclusion, marriage is a beautiful thing, but having an elaborate and extravagant wedding can incur debts for the couple. Therefore,it should be planned within one’s means of income.
