Thesedays, many people have a chance to study overseas and that is accompanied by living away from families. In this essay, i will discuss the both positive and negative points of being away from home in a different country and give my opinion.
On the one hand, there are some problems that students living apart from home in a foreign nation often experience. When coming to a strange country, meeting a new culture, some students are usually unfamiliar with this at the first time, leading to encounter culture shock. For example, the food, lifestyle, cultural behaviour and so on can make learners feel difficult to adapt. These factors easily create feelings of concern, frustration and even homesickness due to the difference between them and local individuals. Additionally, as studying overseas, many individuals need to do some tasks by themselves such as household chores, time management. Unfortunately, some often lack pratical skills , making it harder for them to overcome these inevitable obstacles. As a result, these setbacks would bring difficulties in staying alone and affect people’s academy.
On the other hand, there are a variety of major benefits that help students living away from families in a distinct country. First of all, it is clear that while living in a safety net of familial support, individuals seem to be interested in studying without joining in other activities like financial management, cooking, washing clothes and so on, living away from home is a great chance for them to step outside their comfort zone. Without the presence of parents, students have to do household chore on their own and they will learn how to live independently. Therefore, studying in a different nation will help improve people’s independence and learn a lot of housing skills. Sedondly, each country have its own unique culture and lifestyle, thanks to studying abroad, it is also a wonderful opportunity for learners to experience with the social and cultural aspects. Hence, being exposed to different cultures, customs and points of view, people can learn a lot of new knowledge from foreigners and especially expand their horizon.
In conclusion, although leaving the care of families to study in a foreign nation will face some challenges, i still advocate that studying abroad will create a lot of valuable experiences for people to enhance their life and study.
