Teamwork plays an essential role in completing tasks perfectly and effectively. There are many factors in setting up a successful team, such as having creative members, hands-on leaders, or having enough time to complete a project. In my opinion, the most important factor that decisively contributes to a great team is having an experienced leader. In this essay, I will show and clarify some reasons for my choice.
Firstly, leaders are responsible for managing, following the overall flow of the project, and knowing exactly what each member should and should not do for this job. Therefore, a good leader, especially one who has long-time experience in managing projects, plays a vital role in a successful team. Through previous tasks, they learn from experience, from a variety of mistakes and successes, so that teammates can comfortably trust them. For example, I used to lead a mini-project at school, though I did not have any experience beforehand; I did not know how to split the work, follow the project, and manage members effectively. As a result, the project turned out to be a disaster, and that was the worst project I have ever done.
Additionally, experienced leaders will know how to manage teammates effectively without any conflict while working together. A good team leader is also a person who understands every member in the team, knows their strengths and weaknesses, so that he or she can split the tasks suitably. For example, I am lucky to be in a team with many people of various ages; sometimes we have conflicts while working together because of generation gaps and differing opinions. Fortunately, we have a wonderful leader; he always lends an empathetic ear, listening to everybody’s opinions and solving problems peacefully; that is why all of the teammates respect and admire him so much. He is the most wonderful leader I have ever met.
In conclusion, to contribute to successful projects, there are other factors, but I think having an experienced team leader plays a significant role because of the reasons above, not only for work but also for bonding among people.
