Opinions are divided on whether people would always prefer a life without work rather than one where work occupies most of their time. I agree with this viewpoint, as most people consider their jobs to be a tool serving other meaningful goals, rather than one of the goals itself.

Admittedly, there are people who enjoy hectic lifestyles. Examples of this include young graduates, who are highly motivated to make a mark on the world, and successful people, whose present achievements inspire them to make even longer strides. For these individuals, dedicating themselves to work seems natural, and they may actively seek opportunities for them to take on more workloads. However, these individuals do not necessarily represent the majority of the population, whose initial enthusiam and ambitions fade away after experiencing inevitable failures and disappointments at work.

On the other hand, I contend that most people think of work as a means to an end. More specifically, people work so that they can earn money to pay for personal expenses and support their families. For instance, although many single parents are willing to take on three or four jobs, leaving little time for their children and leisure activties, they in fact have no interest in what they do for a living as their main focus is to earn enough money to take care of their loved ones. Thus, people like them would choose a life without work, as, despite its practical value, it is also a burden and an obstacle preventing them from pursuing other goals, such as spending time with their families or enjoying personal hobbies. Obviously, this does not mean they enjoy a life doing nothing, but rather one where their priorities are taken care of, instead of being sacrificed for work.

To conclude, I agree that the average person is likely to choose a life without work over one dominated by it. This is because they have other important priorities, which are regretfully sacrificed to ensure their livelihood.
