It is believed that reaching goals depends on being lucky to a greater extent. I argue that chance plays a great role in someone’s life, despite some situations that require interpersonal skills from a person to get the result.
Firstly, being born into a wealthy family with strong social relations in society is an opportunity to get the benefit from it during a whole lifetime. Such a person is lucky because he or she is provided with everything needed for healthy growing such as a variety in diet, quality education, and a warm house to live in. In these conditions, it is easier for them to fully develop and use their connections and finances in order to reach their aims. For example, students from wealthy families can study abroad without getting a scholarship and be hired in a family company easily. Thus, having rich parents is luck that helps them in life at its initial stages of it.
However, this is not enough to be raised with all necessities to get the desired results, if a person is lazy, irresponsible, and undisciplined regarding their studies or work. There are numerous examples of people from poor families who reached their goals by working hard and creating relations with people needed. For example, if I did not study well at university then it would have been impossible to get my diploma. Another instance is learning a foreign language or any skill, which requires to be disciplined and persistent. In such situations, luck has nothing to do with achievements.
In conclusion, being a fortunate person can help with the first steps in life, however, I disagree that this is the most important to reach the purpose. Individual qualities are essential in many cases, especially in the long term.
