Band 6+: Which one is better to use Non renewable or renewable energy

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Opinions vary with respect to which is more beneficial: the usage of renewable energy or the non-renewable one. Nevertheless, both viewpoints seem reasonable, I would agree with the former one.

To begin with, there is no room for doubt that using the non-renewable energy source is better than its counterpart. First of all, the extraction of this type of energy is not new — we have been doing it for over a century. In other words, the techniques, technology, and expertise required are well-developed, allowing for efficient extraction. Therefore, teaching people in this field, ranging from theoritical basements in mining to the practical skills needed, is no longer a problem. Secondly, non-renewable energy might be affordable for most countries, as its price is lower in comparison with renewable source, where environmental organisations and governments spend millions for modern facilities and equipments. Due to the abundance of natural resources, some countries tend to have low price for energy. It appears be an attractive option for other countries which may lack in investing in renewable energy technology.

Those who prioritise the renewable source of energy are justified. Considering the fact that the natural resources might end someday, people believe that the usage of alternative ways of getting energy, included, but not limited to solar panels, wind turbines, is better choice. For instance, recently Iceland — the country which is currently running out of resources, like coal and oil — has switched from traditional to the more ecologically beneficial methods of energy extraction. Due to its geographical location, Iceland is a place for powerful winds — easier to take the energy from, with the help of wind turbines. Plus, the usage of renewable source of energy requires the implementation of cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art facilities. This type of advances may lead to the more prosperative future that people desire, as the higher the reliance on tecnology is, the more it forces to go further, leading to more inventions and breakthroughs, simultaneously reducing the unemployment rate, as people for regulating machines for energy extraction are needed.

In summary, even though the benefits of non-renewable energy usage are concerned, still, I believe that shift to renewable source is crucial, if we prioritise better future.
