The advantages of this trend will allow students to be held accountable for their finances and provide them with working experience. On the downside, students will get deviated from their studies and peer-interactions.
On one hand, the positive outcomes of undergraduates doing part-time jobs will make them responsible for their own expenses and provide them with in-valuable experiences. If individuals learn how to to handle their monetary needs, this will be a future privilege. Since they become accountable for their financial management, which is an essential skill. Additionally, working at a young age will allow them to gain working experience. For example, as per a survey conducted among school students, it was found out that the undergraduates who engage in work after school are more careful with their purchases and plan their expenses accordingly.
On the other hand, the negative sides of this approach would be students getting distracted from their studies and missing out fun aspect of student life. However, having to work after school or during Saturday and Sunday will hinder the time students have to focus on studies. Therefore, this will ultimately decreases the academic performances of the undergraduates. Moreover, student life is an once in life opportunity, working undergraduates will miss to cherish these precious moments. For instance, as per the statistical survey done by the immigration authority of Canada, it is found out that the international students who spent more hours working shows no or less interest in their academic performances.
In conclusion, as per the advantages and the disadvantages of this concept, I believe that in-order to to be responsible individuals in the future, and to conquer while-collar employment opportunities in blue-chip companies, this decision would be beneficial.
