In the last few years AI chatbots have become much more popular among the society. Some people spend a lot of time chatting with them and their trust for the machines grows bigger and bigger. While talking to AIs is generally safe and may be even considered as a replacement for a normal human interaction, people should not forget that their online data is still not 100% safe.
Talking to chatbots can feel like a real chatting or discussion. The large language models do understand a lot about us people, hence they can respond in human-like tone too. This is what makes them often chosen by people over having real conversations and makes them seem trustworthy and supportive. In my opinion, for people who seek someone to talk to it is a good alternative, but for people who possess valuable information usage of AI can be dangerous.
Advantages of this trend can easily be seen: shut-in people get a chance to improve their social skills, bored people can have fun and overall the society benefits from its existence by being able to get their questions answered. On the contrary, disadvantages are rather subtle and pass unnoticed b most people. One of the disadvantages is the fact that while talking to AI you usually give it some information about yourself, even if you don’t notice it. And just one security break – and all of your precious data such as home address, names, place of work is open to the hackers, usually with intent of using it against you in one way or another. Still, chances of that happening are surprisingly low, hence you can be almost certain about safety of your data.
Summarizing everything, I would say that this trend is rather positive , as AI is an almighty tool that can assist you in many aspects of your life, or just become your online friend that can also answer the strangest of your questions.
