Taking care of children has been a long traditional job for women in the past while men do the hard labor work, it is a belief too that women take care of children far more better than men. While it has been a scenario for most people in the past, I strongly disagree because first and foremost, taking care of a child has nothing to do with gender. A person can be the loveliest woman you will ever meet but has the most disturbing way of taking care of a child.
Assigning specific jobs to specific gender has been a sensitive topic in today’s generation. Today, men are working hand in hand with a woman in child care. In fact, both women and men play an essential role in the upbringing of a child. Although there are still some people who believe that maternal or womanly touch to a kid’s life is still way better and different than that of men. Furthermore, there are also some cases of men being involved in human trafficking specifically with children, but it is also noteworthy that even women participate in such inhumane acts.
In recent years, women have been multitasking both their careers and childcare. A woman shouldn’t hinder herself from bringing out the best of her potential in any aspects, career or not, and should not be limited to childcare. The same goes with men, they should be more proactive in both career and childcare, not just work life.
Job roles of any kind should not be about the gender but their ability to do it. Inadvertently, Society needs to focus more on educating parents on how to take care of a child and how it is a lifelong commitment rather than appointing specific roles to specific genders.
Therefore I conclude that modern times gave us more awareness about equality among jobs and its restrictions. Thus, childcare is not the sole responsibility of a woman. Although it is heavily important to emphasize our past ways, it is also valuable to adapt what the future holds for all of us.
