The government’s role in minimizing pollution by funding the travel systems by lowering travel cost is a debated topic. Although some may argue that doing so doesn’t contirubute to wards minimization of pollution, I would argue the other way. I believe that reducing ticket prices and investing on various transport facilities, contiributes a lot as doing so may lead to setting rules for the inroduction of advanced electiric cars that emit low combustion and may lead to construction of new pollution friendly means of transport.
The first thing that comes to mind,when thinking about public transport is, the quality of cars, especialy in terms of amount of combustion that they release. Some times governments find it easy to buy cheap cars regardless of other factors. If this is improved, however, new advanced cars that can do not release any combustion will be on the road. Hence, this can lead to minimization of envirnomental pollution. One reason why people own a car is, to avoid delay associated with public transport, resulting from a scarcity in public transport vehicles, therefore, if the government allocates a huge budjet, there is an option for the availability of many cars, and this may open an alternative for car owners to use public transport. This will, in turn, lead to decrease in cars and may lead to reduction of transport pollution related with a high number of cars.
On the otherhand, if there is a high government investment to wards travel infrustracture, new pollution friendly transport ways may be devised. For example, a government may build a road for bicycle only, and this will have a positive role in minimizing polluton as such transport means doesn’t emit combusion. Similarly, there are new technologies, including autonomious electrical cars, which are introduced in the developed countries that have a very minimized effect on the environment.
Overall, I would agree that a government’s investment contiributes a lot in reducing pollution related to transport as it leads to replacement of old cars that release combustion by new electrical cars and can lead to devising ways to facilitate the introduction of new transport systems that do have a positive effect on reducing pollution.
