Technologies today can translate words with high accuracy and as a result learning foreign language is just waste of time. I disagree with this because learning foreign language can have advantages over computer translators and below I will describe them.
First of all, translators today still need to use an internet connection to work properly and it means that far away from home, for example in a mountain village or forest village you will not have access to a translator. For example, when I was twelve, I visited Mongolia on a trip with my family and when I met locals in a small village I couldn’t communicate with them because I didn’t know their language and I couldn’t use my translator due to no access to the internet connection.
In addition, knowing a foreign language allows you to enter universities around the world. For instance, most of the prestige universities around the world like Harvard, Oxford, and others, require a high level of knowledge of English. As a result, if you know a foreign language you can enter to the university in that country. Moreover, being bilingual or monolingual can help to improve problem solving in different ways and also help to reduce chances of memory loss in the future.
In conclusion, being bilingual or monolingual has more advantages in long period of time, so spending time now to learn foreign language to get benefits in future it’s just the right choice.
