It is often argued that personal phone records and messages should be made available to the concerned authorities. In contrast, others believe these records should remain private, as their exposure might lead to the leakage of important information. In my opinion, government access to personal phone data is necessary to reduce crime in the country.
On one hand, if people are aware that the government can access information from their cell phones, there is a higher chance of reducing online scams and threats. Furthermore, in cases of online abuse and harassment, the CID can track down the abusers and ensure they face the required punishment. Recently, in our country, a group of individuals was harassing young women. The government was able to track their information and punish them in a very short time. As a result, people now feel safer using their cell phones.
On the other hand, people often argue that no one has the right to access their mobile phones. Privacy is highly valued these days, with many individuals unwilling to share their phone passwords even with their spouses. Public figures are particularly vulnerable, as any leaked information about them can quickly become a news headline. For example, there have been numerous instances where pregnancy rumors about actresses have surfaced on social media without their consent, which is disturbing at times.
In conclusion, while many people believe that their personal phone records and messages should remain private to avoid making them public property, I believe that governments should have access to essential information to minimize online scams and harassment, ultimately making the country safer for everyone.
